Galileos Comfort 3D Imaging

Our office has recently acquired the Sirona Galileos Comfort 3D Imaging System.

The Galileos 3D diagnostic system delivers superior quality images of your teeth and supporting anatomic structures with the lowest dosage of radiation. As of January 2012, there are only five Galileos Comfort Scanners in all of New Jersey.

Patients are able to view their entire examination on a 50 inch Hi-resolution monitor while Dr. Olivari reviews the on-screen images in 3D. When teamed up with the CEREC, Galileos provides reliable anatomic information so implant prosthetics can be planned accurately and precisely.

The Galileos implant library is utilized to verify the diameter, length, and exact anatomic placement of the implant and prosthetic on the screen, all prior to surgery. “This is the most amazing advancement I have ever experienced,” says Dr. Olivari. “I wouldn’t practice dentistry without it.”

Clinical Applications

1. Implant planning and implant retained full denture placement.

2. Orthodontic Evaluation: Scans, which are rendered in 3D by Galileos, provide undistorted and (unlike 2D panoramic) true, accurate, and measurable images. Galileos renders a cephalametric and 3D panoramic, which can be delivered, to your orthodontist on a CD. Orthodontists can plan better and provide shorter treatment times for children being able to see adult teeth before they erupt, and measure their exact size!

3. Endodontic Applications: In Galileos, a tooth needing a root canal is magnified on our 50-inch monitor in the treatment room. Dr. Olivari can dissect the exact three-dimensional anatomy to determine the size, thickness, shape, and any anatomic abnormalities. “I can examine the subject’s tooth from the top down, in 3D, and measure the roots length precisely.” “Totally amazing,” says Dr. Olivari.
